Skopje, 12 January 2026 (MIA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski condemned on Monday an incident in which an individual broke the glass at the front door of the Bulgarian Embassy in Skopje. Based on initial information, this is an isolated case in which material damage was caused, but not to a large extent, Mucunski said.
“Regardless of that, we fully condemn the incident. The Interior Ministry is fully focused on the investigation and I would direct you to the Interior Ministry for a more detailed response regarding the investigation. But, what I would like to say, is that, on an institutional level, there has been a swift and efficient response from our side,” Mucunski said.
In answer to a journalist’s question, Mucunski said it is not possible to control every criminal event that occurs on the country’s territory, stressing that the most important thing is that the incident has already been condemned by the country and work is being done on fully resolving the case.
“Our responsibility as a country is to first give an objective response, to condemn the event, and then our institutions to also carry out all necessary activities at full speed, and I think our response has been maximally correct up to this moment. I hope the investigation by the Interior Ministry will be completed swiftly,” Mucunski said.
The Interior Ministry reported the incident on Sunday evening, noting that the glass of the front door of the Bulgarian Embassy in Skopje was broken.
