Mucunski: Filipche's statements are contradictory

Skopje, 31 August 2025 (MIA) — You will not hear the current government say one thing in front of cameras and another behind closed doors; the biggest contradiction in Venko Filipche is that he talks about constitutional amendments while also saying the EU negotiations should be canceled if there is a new veto, which leads to uncertainty about the direction the country should pursue, according to Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski in a Facebook post.
"We have seen the results of politics based on quick moves and empty promises. SDS and DUI instilled hope with each promise but took away that hope under every pressure. The joint documents passed in Parliament did not bring strength, but weakness — they were derogated as soon as any challenges appeared," Mucunski wrote.
He wrote that the current government was setting a new and better course.
"Our path is different. We are working on solutions that bring lasting progress instead of blockades that keep repeating. It is better to show patience and wisdom than to make moves that will burden the state even more tomorrow. That is a statesmanlike approach: Thinking about today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow," the foreign minister said.
He said the European future was not just empty talk.
"There is another important difference. For us, the European future is not a hollow phrase. It means fighting against corruption, modern administration, digitization, investments in roads, infrastructure and new opportunities for citizens.
"We believe results at home create respect abroad. That is why we are determined to ensure a European future that will be respectable, sustainable and acceptable for all. The Macedonian people deserve it," Mucunski wrote. mr/
