MP Mizrahi believes oncology inquiry committee will complete its task

Skopje, 5 October 2023 (MIA) - The inquiry committee set up in relation to the Oncoloby Clinic case adopted the Rules of Procedures on Thursday, with chair Rashela Mizrahi saying they would contact all former health ministers, so they attend coming sessions.

Mizrahi said she would not allow the inquiry committee to turn into a para-judicial body but seek political responsibility.

"If such responsibility is identified, the committee findings can lead to conclusions that represent grounds for initiation of a procedure of determining the accountability of public office holders in line with Article 76 of the Constitution. I hope and believe this will be the first inquiry committee to complete its task, publicly and together with the media. I expect to see conclusions, in order to find those responsible and the extent of the accountability. I expect these conclusions to trigger systemic solutions that would prevent similar scandals and tragedies in the future," said Mizrahi.

The decision to set up an inquiry committee to look into the Oncology Clinic case was adopted on September 20, after the Public Prosecutor's Office launched a pre-trial investigation following media allegations that Oncology Clinic staff were withholding life-saving medical care from cancer patients and reselling cancer drugs.
