MotoGP: Malaysian Grand Prix cancelled over coronavirus
Berlin, 20 August 2021 (dpa/MIA) - MotoGP has cancelled the Malaysian Grand Prix scheduled for October 24 due to the coronavirus pandemic and "resulting entry restrictions" to the country the governing body FIM and rights holders Dorna said Thursday.
A statement said that MotoGP "looks forward to returning to Sepang in 2022 to race in front of our dedicated Malaysian fans."
The elite motorbike series has made various adaptations to its schedule amid the global health crisis with Malaysia previously being brought forward a week to replace a cancelled race in Thailand.
Organizers said the date would now be filled by another race at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italy.
