Monthly inflation up by 0.9% in May

Skopje, 7 June 2024 (MIA) - Inflation measured through the Consumer Price Index in May 2024, compared to April 2024 was 0.9%, the State Statistical Office said on Friday.
According to the State Statistical Office, the increase of inflation in May 2024, compared to April 2024, is the result of the increase in the consumer prices in the following groups: Restaurants, and hotels by 3.1%, Recreation and culture by 2.1%, Transport by 1.9%, Clothing and footwear by 1.5%, Furnishings, household equipment and routine household by 1.0%, Food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.7%, Miscellaneous goods and services by 0.4%, Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, Health by 0.1%.
In May 2024, compared to April 2024, a decrease in Consumer Price Index was registered in the group Communications by 0.3%.
The Consumer Price Index in the groups: Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics and Education remained at the same level as in the
previous month.
The Consumer Price Index in May 2024, compared to May 2023, increased by 4.5%, while the Retail Price Index in May increased by 1.3% compared to April 2024 and 5.8% compared to the same month last year.
