Skopje, 19 October 2025 (MIA) - The 2025 local elections are taking place in a peaceful, fair and democratic atmosphere across the country. The Ministry of Interior (MoI) is taking measures and activities within its competences to ensure a smooth and safe implementation of the election process. So far, no major violations of public order and peace have been registered, MoI spokesperson Goce Andreevski told a press conference on Sunday. 

He added that Prilep police officers detained two people identified by the initials B.H. (72) and D.S. (36), both from Krushevo, at 9:00 am on Sunday on "Dabnichka" street in Prilep, in connection with the crime of "bribery during elections and voting". In connection with the same incident, people identified by the initials S.A. (28), M.A. (31), Sh.A. (40), D.A. (22) and Dzh.A. (36) from Krushevo, residing in Prilep, have been summoned to the Prilep Police Station. Appropriate charges will be filed after thorough documentation of the case.

Several reports of campaigning during voting have been registered in several places, but after measures have been taken, the allegations in the reports have not been confirmed to this point.

The Interior Ministry urges the citizens and the political parties to contribute to a peaceful and democratic election process. Citizens should report any violations of the election process to the nearest police station or by calling 192 or 112.
