MoI: Two 14-year-olds from Skopje send false bomb threats to schools

Skopje, 27 February 2025 (MIA) – The Department for Combating Terrorism, Violent Extremism and Radicalism will submit a report to the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption, involving two 14-year-old minors from Skopje for sending false bomb threats to schools.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the minors sent an email containing a bomb threat on February 19, 2025 from the mobile phone of one of them, targeting two schools in Skopje – one primary and one secondary. Moreover, on February 21, they sent another email from the mobile phone of the other minor, also threatening two school in Skopje - one primary and one secondary.

Anti-terrorism police units conducted inspection of all the schools that received messages. No explosive devices were found, and it was determined that the threats were fake.

“Following the investigative measures by the Cybercrime Sector, the IMEI number of the mobile device used to send the emails was identified. The IMEI was linked to Google services on February 21, 2025, from an IP address belonging to a telecommunications operators in the Republic of North Macedonia. The suspects were identified and brought in for questioning at the Chair police station on February 25, where they admitted to the crime, explaining how it was carried out, in the presence of a parent, a lawyer and a juvenile delinquency inspector,” reads the MoI press release.

Authorities seized their mobile phones as part of the investigation.
