MoI Spasovski meets Customs Administration director Kutirov
Skopje, 10 September 2021 (MIA) – Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski and Public Security Bureau director Sasho Tasevski met on Friday with the head of the Customs Administration Slavica Kutirov and discussed interoperability between the two institutions, particularly crucial at border crossings.
Moreover, the Interior Ministry said in a press release, they underlined the need for changes to the Law on Customs Administration with the aim of ensuring the efficiency of the new sector for special investigative measures. The Customs Administration has asked the Interior Ministry for support in implementation of activities within this sector, which is set to cooperate closely with the MoI.
Spasovski asked the Customs Administration to increase the number of workers at border crossings, as well as to enhance cooperation between police and customs officials in order to improve coordination and sharing information which will lead to greater success in the fight against crime and corruption through joint activities.
He also stressed the need for reconstruction of border crossings and customs offices located there, to ensure better working conditions and modernize North Macedonia’s borders.
In addition, interlocutors discussed enhancing the One Stop Shop system at the Tabanovce border crossing.
The Interior Ministry said that Spasovski expressed at the meeting the need for investing in material and technical conditions in the upcoming period, adding that motivated workers can better perform their tasks and fight crime and corruption.
