Skopje, 14 July 2022 (MIA) – As I have done since the unannounced protests began, I call for a peaceful protest as part of the dialogue, says Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski.
Minister Spasovski says dialogue is continuing at Thursday’s Parliament sessions including the address of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and discussion on the Report over the content of the draft-negotiating framework for the accession negotiations of the Republic of North Macedonia with the European Union, proposed by the French Presidency on 30 June 2022.
“Although protests in recent days were not properly registered, and in spite of the organizers’ irresponsibility, I call for awareness and responsibility in their actions. European values and socio-cultural manners have never been more important than now – the time when democratic processes must move forward. Dear fellow citizens Macedonians, Albanians, Serbs, Turks, Roma, Vlachs, all citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia, I assure you that the Macedonian police is up to its task to protect the constitutionally guaranteed right of protest, the security of institutions and the citizens,” Spasovski wrote in a Facebook post.
