Skopje, 22 August 2023 (MIA) – The Day of the Rapid Deployment Unit - 23 August will be marked in two locations, Kumanovo and Skopje. Wednesday's activities will begin at 9:30 am at the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kumanovo by unveiling a memorial dedicated to the police officers who laid down their lives for the Constitution, law, peace and safety of North Macedonia, the Ministry of Interior announced in a press release on Tuesday.

At 10:30 am at the park in Kumanovo, citizens will have the opportunity to meet with the members of the Rapid Deployment Unit, see the equipment the Unit uses, take photos, see the police vehicles they use, etc.

In Skopje, flowers will be laid at the memorial of departed members of the Rapid Deployment Unit at the Gjorche Petrov Police Station.  

The celebration for the police unit’s 22nd anniversary is scheduled to take place in Kumanovo at the parking lot of the swimming pool at 7 pm.

"We invite you to come and celebrate the Day of the Rapid Deployment Unit together. We will continue to celebrate the already established ‘an Interior Ministry for the Public' concept," the press release added. ssh/ad/
