Ministry of Energy forms tech support unit to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050

Skopje, 23 September 2025 (MIA) -- The Ministry of Energy, Mining and Minerals has formed a technical support unit to help coordinate the country's energy transition process, the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Minerals said Tuesday in a press release.

"By forming this unit, we are establishing a distinct system for supporting the entire process of coordination, monitoring and dialogue with all stakeholders. Our goal is to provide an accelerated and more organized transition, with concrete results and complete transparency before the public," Energy Minister Sanja Bozhinovska is quoted as saying in the release.

She noted that the just transition process was complicated and required coordination, responsibility and work.

"Our country's ambition is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and abandon coal as an energy resource," Bozhinoska said.

"But just as important to us is to make sure not to neglect any community or individual," she added.

According to the release, the ministry's tech support unit will employ energy, communications and project management experts.

"Only through a systematic and transparent approach can we win the public trust and stakeholders' support. Forming this unit is a step forward in building a strong institutional foundation for a successful and just energy transition," Bozhinovska said. mr/
