Minister Shaqiri meets with British Ambassador Lawson and British Council Director Sears
- Minister of Education and Science Jeton Shaqiri met Thursday with the British Ambassador to North Macedonia, Matthew Lawson, and the Director for the Western Balkans at the British Council, Clare Sears. According to the Ministry, the meeting focused on the current conditions in the national education system, as well as joint activities aimed at raising the quality of education in the country.

Skopje, 25 January 2024 (MIA) – Minister of Education and Science Jeton Shaqiri met Thursday with the British Ambassador to North Macedonia, Matthew Lawson, and the Director for the Western Balkans at the British Council, Clare Sears. According to the Ministry, the meeting focused on the current conditions in the national education system, as well as joint activities aimed at raising the quality of education in the country.
“I am grateful to the British Council for being a longstanding supporter of the institutional efforts aimed at providing higher quality education, and I expect this to continue in the future. The support for the development of digital skills among the youth, as well as the assistance in boosting motivation among teachers and strengthening their competencies, are especially valuable for us” said Minister Shaqiri.
According to the Ministry, at the meeting, Ambassador Lawson and Director Sears stated that the assistance by the British Government has been made available because it recognizes the sincere commitments to higher quality education for future generations of young people.
“They noted that preparations are underway for the organization of the largest gathering of education and skills ministers, the Education World Forum, set to be held in May in London. Additionally, they extended an invitation to Minister Shaqiri to attend the event where experiences will be exchanged and guidelines over future education policies will be created,” said the Ministry of Education and Science.
