Minister Murtezani meets EP rapporteur for North Macedonia, Thomas Waitz
- Minister of European Affairs Orhan Murtezani met Tuesday with the European Parliament’s rapporteur for North Macedonia, Austrian MEP Thomas Waitz.

Skopje, 25 February 2025 (MIA) - Minister of European Affairs Orhan Murtezani met Tuesday with the European Parliament’s rapporteur for North Macedonia, Austrian MEP Thomas Waitz.
The meeting was held ahead of the 23rd meeting of the North Macedonia-EU Joint Parliamentary Committee, which represents an important opportunity to deepen dialogue and strengthen joint commitment to the country's European future, the Ministry of European Affairs said in a press release.
Murtezani and Waitz pointed to the importance of the forum as a space for constructive exchange of views and promotion of cooperation, aimed at sooner integration of North Macedonia in the European Union.
"Talks focused on the Reform Agenda and the European Commission's Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, as drivers of the European integration process. Minister Murtezani stressed that North Macedonia remains committed to key reforms in the rule of law, the fight against corruption and the economic development, noting that these efforts are essential for progress in the accession negotiations. MEP Waitz reaffirmed the European Parliament's support, underlining that consistent implementation of reforms will be a key factor in the next phase of the process," reads the press release.
Participants in the meeting placed special emphasis on the Green Agenda, with Waitz welcoming North Macedonia's commitment to sustainable economic growth and energy independence through green initiatives. Interlocutors pointed out that the European Union, through the Growth Plan and other financial support mechanisms, will continue to support the country in implementing its reform priorities.
