Skopje, 17 July 2025 (MIA) - The accountability of the public administration is a key prerequisite when it comes to restoring the citizens’ trust, while public administration reform represents a key priority in the accession partnership and is an important prerequisite in the country’s Euro-integration process, said Minister of Public Administration Goran Minchev in his address Thursday at the sixth session of the National Convention on the European Union in the Republic of North Macedonia (NCEU-MK) Working Group 6 - Anti-corruption.
The Minister assured the citizens that the public administration will be “better prepared, more experienced, and really working in the service of the public interest, and not under someone’s personal or partisan dictate”.
He noted that public administration reform is a part of the first EU negotiation cluster – Fundamentals, which, he said, is essential for the dynamic of the negotiations as a whole.
“Public administration is one of the key pillars of the Euro-integration process. Without an efficient, professional and responsible administration capable of implementing reforms and ensuring alignment with the European standards, it is impossible to successfully close any negotiating chapter,” Minchev said.
Minchev said the Government is affirming its commitment to the public administration reform process through a continued implementation of measures and activities defined in the 2023-2030 Public Administration Reform Strategy.
“The Ministry of Public Administration, in line with its authorizations and priorities, is actively working on several key reform processes, in order to strengthen expertise, accountability and the functioning of the administration, as well as building an institutional system that will be a real service to the citizens,” Minchev said.
The Minister noted that reforms foresee protection from corruption and political influence through specific measures, with the citizens receiving equal opportunities for employment, based on competencies without the need for political affiliation.
