Skopje, 24 September 2023 (MIA) – VMRO-DPMNE leader Hrsitijan Mickoski urged Sunday the Macedonians in Albania to participate massively at the population census in that country.

“While this government convinces us of the benefits of the good neighbourly agreement which they concluded, Bulgaria is pushing open propaganda against Macedonia and as if that is not enough, these days they are exerting fierce pressure and terror during the census in Albania, to register the Macedonian minority as ethnic Bulgarians. Now we know the intentions of the Bulgarian policy, but the silence of the Macedonian government is incomprehensible,” Mickoski said, addressing the 32nd annual conference of the Youth Forces Union of VMRO-DPMNE held in Veles.

Mickoski urged the Macedonians to be part of the population census in Albania.

“From here, from the heart of Macedonia, I publicly call and appeal to Macedonians from Albania to come out and register themselves as Macedonians, what they have been and will continue to be for centuries. I appeal that now is the moment for them not to give in, and the answer to all foreign propaganda should be massiveness. Changes are coming in Macedonia and as Macedonians and Macedonia as their country from which they originate, will help them in the future, and it will be easier for us to get more involved in supporting the development and nurturing of Macedonian uniqueness and culture,” Mickoski said.
