Skopje, 3 July 2022 (MIA) – These documents, in their current form, are unacceptable for me personally and VMRO-DPMNE. I offered Kovachevski to come out and reject this proposal and I will withdraw my demand for early elections in return. Another thing I offered is that if he believes so much that the identity has been secured, then sections 11 and 14 to be deleted from the conclusions on the first intergovernmental conference, said VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski after Sunday’s meeting with Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski. “The only thing they should do is reject the proposal, say no, because these are not negotiations and this is not a negotiating framework that ensures our European future. This is a negotiating framework that either assimilates and ‘bulgarizes’ us so that we join the EU, or we will not be part of the EU,” said Mickoski. He said the PM used the meeting to present everything that has been circulating in the public in recent days. “He gave his view on the documents and I presented my standpoint on the text, resulting in three conclusions. First of all, these two documents, in this form, are unacceptable for me personally and VMRO-DPMNE,” said Mickoski. Secondly, he added, I offered Kovachevski to come out and reject this proposal and I will withdraw my demand for early elections in return. To put all capacities of VMRO-DPMNE at the disposal of the Government in helping it to overcome the challenges that we will face this winter, be it related to security, energy, finances, food etc. Then in spring, we can sit down and reevaluate the real situation,” noted Mickoski. The third thing the VMRO-DPMNE leader offered the PM is to delete sections 11 and 14 from the conclusions on the first intergovernmental conference. “Section 11 is the one determining that Macedonia will not start the accession negotiations until the Constitution is changed, while section 14 refers to the protocol that is part of the second intergovernmental conference between Macedonia and Bulgaria. The protocol that includes historical, educational, cultural issues and everything else that the public witnessed,” said Mickoski. He noted that if Brussels deleted these sections, then discussions could continue.
