Mickoski: Speculation on Rexhepi’s non-appearance, waiting for him to emerge by midnight
Skopje, 11 November 2021 (MIA) – There is a lot of speculation regarding the non-appearance of Besa MP Kastriot Rexhepi in the Parliament, and neither the President nor the Prime Minister have said anything on his whereabouts, said VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski after the interruption of the session on the Government no-confidence vote on Thursday. “We will wait for him to appear until midnight. We first have to see if he is alive and well. Except for a message on social media, we know nothing about the man, whether he is somewhere against his will or voluntarily. MPs don’t go missing just like that in the countries he listed in the Facebook post – U.S. and EU. The President and the Prime Minister have not said anything on his whereabouts, and a lawmaker is missing,” Mickoski told reporters. The opposition leader said they don’t know if Rexhepi has been kidnapped, is moving about freely or has run away. “If he had been here, the vote would have taken place. If he had been against the Government’s fall, then the initiative would have ended 60:60 and we would have saved the people from this embarrassment. This opens the room for speculation, but it is clear that the authorities are drowning in quicksand. This is not a political triumph. On the contrary, this is an embarrassment for democracy, an embarrassment for the values that he mentioned in the post,” said Mickoski. He added that speculations about this outcome emerged yesterday and if confirmed that MPs were part of trade deals, “it is no longer worth being in politics.” Mickoski apologized to citizens on behalf of VMRO-DPMNE and his own behalf for having to witness “today’s circus show in the Parliament.”
