Mickoski says gov't coalition stable, no talks yet on whether LDP would join in
- Asked whether the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) could join the government coalition, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said the government coalition was stable and strong, almost a two thirds majority within the Parliament, adding that anyone who shares and supports the policies of the government could join in.
Skopje, 30 October 2024 (MIA) – Asked whether the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) could join the government coalition, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said the government coalition was stable and strong, almost a two thirds majority within the Parliament, adding that anyone who shares and supports the policies of the government could join in.
On whether the LDP would officially join the government coalition, Mickoski said he had not yet discussed it "neither within the coalition nor within the party".
"It is still a process that needs to get support from all stakeholders. What Hristijan Mickoski says is not enough, it is important to see what the coalition partners say, what our internal coalition within our party says in order to reach a final position. However, any support from any MP who supports the government's policies is welcome within the framework of the vote in Parliament," Mickoski told reporters on Wednesday.
As regards LDP leader Monika Zajkova's message and whether it is possible to build a non-partisan position on constitutional amendments with delayed effect, Micksoki said he also called for a non-partisan position on many of the open issues in his speech on October 23.
"I answered the second part of your question, and on the first part of your question – absolutely, in my speech on October 23, I also called for a non-partisan position on many of the open issues that, in our opinion, as a Government, represent serious challenges. So, everyone is welcome, the door is open, everyone who shares these fears, fear may be too strong a word, everyone who is concerned, the door is open to join us," said Mickoski.
LDP leader and MP Zajkova previously told Kanal 5 TV that "constitutional amendments with delayed effect should be the only non-partisan state position".
The procedure for constitutional amendments, according to Zajkova, could begin right away, but would be completed, and the amendments would enter into force with the signing of the accession agreement with the European Union.
The LDP, said Zajkova, proposes that the amendments take effect after all member states, including the Republic of Bulgaria as a member state, ratify the country's EU accession agreement.
