Skopje, 19 August 2024 (MIA) — Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and Minister of Local Self-Government Zlatko Perinski will meet with Skopje Mayor Danela Arsovska to discuss current problems in the capital, according to an official release.
The meeting is scheduled for 3:30 pm. A press conference will follow.
A few days ago, PM Mickoski said he was ready to help provide solutions to problems but if there was no progress, he said, "we will have to go radical and invasive."
He said he would accept anything that would be in the interest of the people of Skopje. He added that the city needed "to function normally," stressing that the new school year was about to begin and citizens were coming back from their summer vacations.
On Friday, the City of Skopje sent a public letter urging Mickoski to schedule a meeting and set the discussion topics.
The city authorities said they expected from the prime minister to agree to their proposal to form a workgroup of members of the Government and the City of Skopje.
"We hope for a sincere approach of partnership by the Government of R. Macedonia, for the benefit of Skopje citizens," the letter said. mr/
