Mickoski: People uniting around change, new VMRO-DPMNE led government will do everything to hold criminals accountable

Skopje, 30 April 2024 (MIA) - VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski addressed a rally in Konche on Tuesday, the party said in a press release.

"In these elections, the people clearly stated what the political reality is in Macedonia, which is that the government, i.e. the two parties in the government, should go in opposition. Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, the VMRO-DOMNE led coalition "Your Macedonia" in relation to Stevo Pendarovski and the coalition that backed Stevo Pendarovski have a difference of 183,000 votes in the first round. Something that has never happened before in Macedonian history, in democratic Macedonia, for a candidate from the opposition to have such a strong result. It is a clear message from the people that changes are needed," said Mickoski, as cited in the press release.

He added that the people are uniting around change.

"On the other hand, you hear the messages from Mala Rechica, from DUI. They say that the people should be heard. We hear the people, and the people made the right decision and sent a clear message that Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, the VMRO-DPMNE led coalition "Your Macedonia" has 20% more votes than the two pro-government candidates, i.e. government candidates - Bujar Osmani and Stevo Pendarovski together," Mickoski said.

He stressed that the message from the citizens is clear, the direction in which Macedonia should move is clear. VMRO-DPMNE and the coalition call for even greater support from citizens in the second round.

"Let us together complete the history that we started a few years ago, i.e. about 30 months ago during the local elections in 2021," he said.

Mickoski pointed out that the most important thing for VMRO-DPMNE is the support of the people.

He noted that according to the results in the first round of the presidential elections, it is clear which path the citizens chose for the country.

Mickoski pledged that the new VMRO-DPMNE led government and the coalition "Your Macedonia" would do everything to hold criminals accountable, the press release adds.
