- Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Thursday that the Prosecutor’s Office has a procedure regarding the request to declassify wiretap documents connected to allegations of illegal surveillance against him as opposition leader.
Skopje, 11 September 2025 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Thursday that the Prosecutor’s Office has a procedure regarding the request to declassify wiretap documents connected to allegations of illegal surveillance against him as opposition leader.
“The Prosecutor’s Office has its procedure, it’s in their hands, so there’s nothing more I can add. I was only an indirect participant in these matters and would have nothing to say,” Mickoski told reporters during a visit to September 8 City General Hospital, where seven operating rooms, pathology and biochemistry departments, and the hospital’s equipment are being fully modernized.
When asked about opposition claims that access to documents at the National Security Agency was denied yesterday, he said he “cannot comment on classified matters.”
Parliament’s Committee on Oversight of the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Intelligence Agency (IA) decided yesterday that its members with security clearance will visit the NSA to examine the documents provided to them. They also decided to visit the Intelligence Agency today.
The Committee convened after reports that the NSA wiretapped Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, who was opposition leader at the time, along with journalists and businessmen between 2019 and 2024.
The Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Corruption said on September 2 that, under instructions from Chief Prosecutor Ljupcho Kocevski, it has opened a case to investigate claims that Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski was under surveillance.
