Mickoski on Albanian Alphabet Day: Success is our joint project, every citizen has equal place, value and opportunity

Skopje, 22 November 2025 (MIA) - Success is our joint project. The only way we can achieve results that move the country forward is through unity in respect, trust and responsibility, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski at the formal session on November 22-Albanian Alphabet Day.

PM Mickoski said the Albanian intelligence made the big step of creating a unified alphabet at the 1908 Bitola Congress, laying the foundation of the linguistic and cultural cohesion of Albanians.

"This was an act of great importance, an act of modernization, education and openness. In the period when the Balkans went through difficult challenges, the Bitola Congress showed that the strength of a society originates from knowledge, language and faith in the future," said Mickoski.

He extended greetings over the holiday, saying it brings a strong historic and cultural symbolism.

"This day is important for our country because Macedonia is a home of diversities that enrich our common national story. The culture, language, tradition and values of the Albanian community lie is the essence of our country. Today, we honor generations who fought for education, literacy and cultural development, as well as those who continue along that path," said Mickoski.

According to him, the country is based on the idea that every citizen has an equal place, value and opportunity.

"Therefore, the Government remains committed to policies that build interethnic trust, open room for dignified development of languages and cultures, and strengthen cohesion among citizens. We want to build a society in which young people - Macedonians, Albanians, Turks, Serbs, Bosniaks, Roma, Vlachs and others - see their future here, in a strong and developed homeland. A society where every language is a bridge not a border, strength not division, richness not challenge," said Mickoski.

In this regard, the PM added, the Government is implementing projects that create a better life for all citizens, regardless of their ethnicity.

"We are committed to improving infrastructure and opportunities in every municipality, modernization of schools, support to cultural institutions and opening of new opportunities for young people. We are implementing programmes for digitalization of services, economic development of local communities and strengthening of institutions working on equality and integration. Our goal is for citizens to feel progress and know that the country is behind them. This is not only a political commitment but a moral duty for future generations," concluded Mickoski.
