Skopje, 24 March 2025 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski stated Monday that inspections will continue across all public facilities in the country, noting that significant irregularities were found in 70-80 percent of the facilities.
“Yes, inspections will continue. They are ongoing. They have never stopped. I can confirm that significant irregularities have been found. When I mention huge irregularities, I am referring specifically to 70-80 percent of the buildings. I am not talking about exceptions, but about a practice that was functioning and will no longer be allowed,” PM Mickoski said at the event for the reconstruction and repurposing of a department store into a modern multifunctional center and museum in the Municipality of Radovish.
Mickoski said that they are creating an action plan to introduce a moratorium for a specific period and resolve all irregularities for those who want to carry on with the activities they have been conducting.
However, I must also say that the resources and tools we have are limited. With these limited resources and tools, we will carry on with this work until it is completed. And not only this, but we will also take steps to prevent similar unfortunate events in the future, Mickoski said.
Ongoing inspections are being carried out in public facilities across the country to verify documentation, adherence to license and permit obligations, technical conditions for operation, and safety standards. Municipalities are coordinating through the Association of the Units of the Local Self-Government (ZELS) to inspect schools, kindergartens, sports halls, cultural centers, as well as all hospitality establishments and other venues where citizens frequently gather.
