Mickoski: Fifteen preschools being reconstructed and 11 more under construction, to take in over 2,600 children

Skopje, 19 June 2025 (MIA) - Around 15 facilities that would take in around 1,500 children are currently being adapted, reconstructed and modernized, while 11 more with a capacity to take in 1,100 children are under construction, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said in response to a reporter's question on what measures the Government is taking regarding issues with preschool capacity.

"That was one of the basic projects we started working on from the very beginning, practically after the big victory at the 2021 local elections, when we set ourselves the goal that there should be no more waiting lists. That was most often the case in Skopje and in several larger urban areas, but step by step the process was completed. What I can say is that at the moment around 15 facilities are being adapted, reconstructed, modernized, which would take in about 1,500 children, I believe 1,461 to be exact," PM Mickoski said after a reopening event for the "Macedonian Village" complex on Thursday.

He noted that 11 other facilities are under construction with a capacity to take in around 1,100 children, adding that once the process is wrapped up, there will virtually be no more waiting lists for preschools.
