Zrnovci, 21 September 2025 (MIA) – Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski expects inflation to drop in the coming period and reach two to three percent next year. He said Sunday that, for the first time in many months, both core inflation and monthly food prices show negative values, signaling a decrease.
“I expect a reduction in inflation in the coming months, with next year seeing levels of 2 to 3 percent annually. Compared to surrounding EU countries, where Croatia is at 4.6 percent and Romania at 6.8 percent in August, we are experiencing a declining trend. For the first time in many months, both core inflation and monthly food prices have a negative parameter, indicating a decrease,” Mickoski said, answering journalists’ questions after the cornerstone ceremony of a home for the elderly in Zrnovci.

He also added that the government is preparing measures to support citizens amid rising food prices in supermarkets and that teams from the State Market Inspectorate and the Competition Protection Commission are continuously active in the field, and some procedures have already been launched.
