Mickoski: DUI in opposition was one of our major promises last elections, if they continue like this, they will remain opposition for a long time
- The choice that wants to take us backwards has already shown what it can do in power. They had seven years to show and prove that they are truly fighting for their home, i.e., our shared home, our Macedonia. But we saw that they are only fighting for their haciendas in Chalkidiki, in Dubai, and the expensive yachts they’re sailing on in the summer on the Aegean coast. That is what they mean by “fighting for our home”, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski said at a rally Monday in the Municipality of Lozovo.

Skopje, 13 October 2025 (MIA) – The choice that wants to take us backwards has already shown what it can do in power.
Mickoski said he is convinced there is no other alternative for Macedonia and for Lozovo except for the “current and future mayor” Boshko Cvetkovski and VMRO-DPMNE and its coalition.

The VMRO-DPMNE leader touched upon three major promises made by the party during last year’s parliamentary elections which have been fulfilled in the first 15 months of its rule: linear increase to the pensions “not only by Mden 5.000, but by a total of Mden 7.000 for all pensioners by March” as well as Mden 500 million for capital projects in the municipalities.
“The third promise was for that one political party, an unreformed party led by people who are reasonably suspected of having committed crimes, and that’s the party led by Ali Ahmeti, DUI, that it won’t be a part of the Government and that it will be in the opposition. As you can see, they have already been in the opposition for 15 months now, and if they continue like this, unreformed, I think they will stay in opposition for a long time yet,” Mickoski said.

Mickoski highlighted the challenges VMRO-DPMNE faced when assuming power, noting that when entering the institutions, the party was unpleasantly surprised to learn that the country was almost bankrupt, while the institutions and the foundations of the state were completely devastated.
“But we didn’t despair, we rolled up our sleeves and started working. In fact, that was what we were promising during the 2024 campaign – a lot of work, honest and hard work,” Mickoski said.
Mickoski called on the citizens of Lozovo to back VMRO-DPMNE at the upcoming elections so that the country can continue to progress.
