Mickoski: Caretaker gov't not subject of leaders' meeting, no constitutional changes until there's clear European path

Skopje, 4 December 2023 (MIA) - Ahead of the leaders' meeting in Parliament on Monday, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski said there will be no constitutional amendments until there is a clear European path. According to him, neither the caretaker government nor the constitutional amendments are the subject of today's meeting, but a date for holding the parliamentary and presidential elections.

"I am not joking with what I say is our position, because yesterday an outgoing politician had an interview with a national media and said that he was sure and claims that constitutional changes will take place whether now or in six months. Now, I will tell you that there will be no constitutional amendments until we have a clear European path and until we have a clear shift of the hegemonic and assimilationist policies of our eastern neighbor towards the Macedonian community in Bulgaria, and I also claim that in a few months from today many politicians will be a thing of the past on the political scene, including him," Mickoski added.

Asked to comment on O'Brien's statement that he would not buy a car from him and much less vote for him, Mickoski said every statement that comes from a strategic partner is a statement that needs to be analyzed.

In response to reporter's question whether VMRO-DPMNE will run in the elections with opposition Albanian parties if SDSM accepts to run with DUI and the Alliance for Albanians, Mickoski said it is SDSM's decision to choose who to run in the elections with.

The VMRO-DPMNE leader extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the tragically killed Vanja Gjorchevska from Skopje and Panche Zhezhovski from Veles. Commenting on today's joint press conference by the Minister of Interior and the public prosecutor, Mickoski said "encyclopedic information" were heard with no concrete evidence.
