Brussels, 24 June 2023 (MIA) - European leaders said they are closely monitoring the situation in Russia after the Wagner mercenary group launched a rebellion against the Russian authorities, adding that it is an internal issue of Russia. 

European Council President Charles Michel posted on Twitter that he was closely monitoring the situation in Russia as it unfolds and is in touch with European leaders and G7 partners. 

"This is clearly an internal Russian issue," Michel tweeted, adding that support for Ukraine is unwavering, Radio Free Europe (RFE) reports. 

Chief European Commission Spokesman Eric Mamer also said that this was Russia's internal issue.
