MFA promotes monograph on 30 years of diplomatic relations with Italy

Skopje, 21 March 2024 (MIA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) hosted on Thursday the launch of a monograph on the occasion of the 30th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between North Macedonia and Italy, organized by the Italian Embassy in Skopje.

Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani expressed satisfaction and honor that the MFA is hosting the launch event for the monograph published by the Italian Embassy. The work contains the most significant moments of historical importance for both countries, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release.

Osmani pointed out that the two countries are continuously building their friendship and partnership, reflected in the mutual respect and intensive cooperation in all spheres of social life.

"Political relations, set by the principled Italian support of our country's aspirations for EU and NATO membership, are very important because the support comes from one of the pillars of these organizations, considering our country a key factor for peace and stability in the region," Osmani said.

The release of this important publication in the form of a chronological overview of bilateral relations rounds off anniversary celebrations, as part of which a series of events were held in the past period.

"North Macedonia and Italy see this three-decade anniversary of established diplomatic ties as a new starting point to further strengthen diplomatic relations and cooperation as future equal members in the European family," the press release reads.

Italian Ambassador Andrea Silvestri, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Antonio Miloshoski, President of North Macedonia's Parliamentary Group for Cooperation with the Parliament of Italy, Elmi Aziri, and Macedonian diplomat Viktor Gaber also addressed the event. ssh/nn/
