Mavrovo-Rostushe, Centar Zhupa mayors thank diaspora for support
Debar, 23 August 2022 (MIA) – The newly elected mayor of Mavrovo-Rostushe, Medat Kurtovski, and the newly elected mayor of Centar Zhupa, Arijan Ibraim, thanked voters, and especially those from the diaspora, for their support at the polls on Saturday.
In separate messages on social media, Kurtovski and Ibraim thanked expats who had been in North Macedonia over the summer and voted for them before going back to the countries where they live and work.
“Dear compatriots from the diaspora, I want to thank all of you who voted at these local elections thereby contributing to the successful realization of the electoral process. Thus, you ensured that our municipality will continue to function normally. To all of you who are leaving in the upcoming days, I wish you a safe journey, good health and happiness, wherever you are,” Kurtovski wrote.
Ibraim also thanked voters for their support. “Dear compatriots, brothers from the diaspora. In my name and in the name of all who will remain in our homeland, from all my heart I say thank you. I wish you a safe journey and promise that we will continue with successful projects, which will mean a better life and conditions. The trust you have given me is a great victory for all of us. I am extremely grateful and proud of you,” he wrote.
This is Kurtovski’s second, and Ibraim’s third mayoral term. Expatriate votes were key to reaching the necessary turnout threshold of one third of the total voters. ad/mr/
