Marichikj urges all parties to take part in constitutional changes working group

Skopje, 7 April 2023 (MIA) - Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj said Friday the working group on the constitutional changes is very important and expressed hope all political parties would nominate their representative.

Deputy PM Marichikj urged parties to take part in the discussions within the process of constitutional changes because the issue "will reach the Parliament sooner or later".

Instead of presenting their positions at daily press conferences, he added, the working group is the right place for discussion, exchange of ideas, proposals.

"This working group should produce a proposal that would then be discussed across the society and the Parliament. It is much more practical and responsible to have the participation of all political parties and I encourage them to take part. They have publicly presented their positions, which have to be debated in the working group as well, to see if we can reach a common solution, the best solution, and build a Macedonian model of incorporating communities in the Constitution Preamble. I believe this is the way to demystify the process rather than have it at the level of statements and political squabbles. We are setting the table for discussion and invite all to sit on that table and talk," said Marichikj.
