Skopje, 19 July 2023 (MIA) - On the first anniversary since the Intergovernmental Conference with which North Macedonia opened negotiations with the EU, I am proud of the fact that the Macedonian institutions are successfully implementing bilateral screenings through strong commitment, both in Skopje and in Brussels, Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj posted on Facebook.
"Just a few months before the end of the screening phase of the negotiations, we have all the necessary capacities to open the chapters and enter the new processes of our European integration," reads Marichikj's Facebook post on the occasion of one year since the holding of the first intergovernmental conference.
Taking that step, Marichikj adds, requires responsible decisions by the MPs expressed through the necessary constitutional changes.
"That's the only way we won't end up stuck in the waiting room and in isolation again, and that's the only way we'll achieve the goal - MK in the EU by 2030. At the end of the first year since the beginning of the negotiations, I express my gratitude to our European allies for all the support we receive and for the fact that they clearly tell us that the door to the EU enlargement is wide open, and for the Macedonian future that is a rare opportunity that is not to be missed," said Marichikj.
