Marichikj: Let New Year be one of renewed political consensus on EU

Skopje, 30 December 2023 (MIA) - On the cusp of the New Year 2024, let's wish ourselves a year of faith, unity and optimism. Let's make the incoming year a better one for all, through mutual respect. Let's measure each step by the welfare of the youth and future generations, says Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj in the New Year's message.

Deputy PM Marichikj wants to see an end to the uncertainty regarding the continuation of the EU accession negotiations.

"Opening of the accession chapters will lead to their closure in about four years, followed by the official EU membership by 2030. This is our common path that brings security, economic progress, well-being and certainty for all of us and the country. We believe that the destiny of Europeans, including Macedonians, is interwoven, and the EU is our future worth fighting for," says Marichikj.

The Deputy PM wishes 2024 to be a year of renewed political consensus on the European Union.

"I would like to extend my enormous gratitude to the staff at the Secretariat for European Affairs, along with other institutions and relevant ministries involved, as well as the experts who worked hard on the screening and contributed to its successful outcome. I am especially grateful to the citizens and the media who followed this process with interest and commitment. EU membership means a lot and is worth a lot. Therefore, let's make the constitutional changes through consensus and unify around Euro-integration," says Marichikj.

According to him, accomplishment of this goal would be an act of patriotism, contributing to a better life and a country governed by European standards.

"Let the New Year bring peace and unity in the Macedonian society. Let's look forward, take care and support each other. This is the only way to success. I believe, wish and work toward a new big, joint Macedonian triumph. Let there be joy, health and well-being during the holidays. Happy New 2024," underlines Marichikj.
