Skopje, 17 June 2022 (MIA) - The European Union has always been and will continue to be the most important political and peace project. If this was not the case, we would not talk about Ukraine’s perspective to join countries of the Eastern Partnership. Therefore, it is important to have in mind that the EU is still much more a political and peace project than only an economic or single market project, said Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj at session “Western Balkans Navigating in Turbulent Times” within the Prespa Forum Dialogue in Ohrid on Friday. Deputy PM Marichikj highlighted the importance of EU credibility, the perspective of all regional countries, in line with their individual progress, while adding that the enlargement policy is in a crisis and therefore a clear plan over enlargement with the Western Balkans is a necessity, the Secretariat for European Affairs said in a press release. “We heard about the ideas of accession in stages, something that will make the process more dynamic and beneficial for candidates, and we can accept this is truly needed as soon as possible,” said Marichikj.
