Major General Sashko Lafchiski appointed new Chief of General Staff

Skopje, 16 August 2024 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, ahead of August 18 – Day of the Army, signed a decree Friday promoting Brigadier General Sashko Lafchiski into Major General and appointing him as new Chief of the General Staff of the Army.
“With a decree signed by President Siljanovska-Davkova, the previous Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski has been dismissed from his post due to the end of his term and has been appointed as advisor of the Chief of the General Staff of the Army on combat readiness and operations,” the President’s Office said in a press release.
The formal handover ceremony for the post of Chief of the General Staff of the Army will be held on August 18 – Day of the Army.
