Athens, 16 January 2022 (dpa/MIA) — A magnitude-5.4 earthquake rattled parts of northern Greece on Sunday afternoon, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injury. The quake struck 22 kilometers south of the Chalkidiki peninsula in the Aegean Sea, the Institute of Geodynamics said. Several weaker aftershocks were registered after the first jolt. The tremors sent frightened people running into the streets of the port city of Thessaloniki. Residents of Athens, located some 500 kilometers away, also reported feeling some shaking.
