Macedonian institute, seminar mark International Mother Language Day

Skopje, 21 February 2024 (MIA) — To mark International Mother Language Day, Krste Misirkov Macedonian Language Institute is hosting a celebration at noon and Macedonian Studies Departments at eleven foreign universites are holding special Macedonian Studies Classes, according to organizers.

 

Minister of Culture Bisera Kostadinovska Stojchevska, Macedonian Language Institute director Elena Jovanova Grujovska, and institute advisor Borche Arsov will give speeches at the International Mother Language Day event at the institute, which will also include a visit to the Krste Misirkov memorial room.

 

 

Ss. Cyril and Methodius University's Macedonian Language, Literature and Culture International Seminar has organized Macedonian Studies Classes at its eleven Macedonian Studies Departments worldwide: in Tirana, Albania; Istanbul and Ankara, Turkey; Budapest, Hungary; Krakow and Sosniowiec, Poland; Moscow, Russia; Rijeka, Croatia; Bucharest, Romania; Paris, France; and Beijing, China.

 

Feb. 21 was declared to be International Mother Language Day by UNESCO in 1999. It has been observed throughout the world since Febr. 21, 2000. mr/
