Skopje, 31 July 2025 (MIA) - When it comes to the minimum wage compared to the cost of living, Macedonia is better than several European countries, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski in answer to an MP’s question on Thursday.
At Parliament’s Q&A session, Mickoski said the country is “somewhere in the middle” when it comes to the minimum wage compared to the living costs.
“The Economic-Social Council yesterday discussed the minimum wage too. If we put aside the political messages that we are used to hearing from one of the unions, we get to the fact that when it comes to the living costs compared to the minimum wage, Macedonia, according to Finance Think, is in the middle. This is when considering the highest level of minimum wage relative to the cost of living in Germany, and the lowest in Albania. We rank better than several European countries,” Mickoski said.
