Macedonia and Slovakia sign memorandum on economic cooperation

Skopje, 14 October 2025 (MIA) – President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova welcomed on Tuesday with highest state and military honours her Slovak counterpart Peter Pellegrini, who is on a two-day official visit to the country.

Following the tête-à-tête meeting, Macedonian and Slovak delegations held a plenary session.

The interlocutors committed to enhancing bilateral relations, deepening economic ties, advancing country’s and regional EU integration, and implementing urgent measures for European and global security.

Siljanovska-Davkova and Pellegrini reaffirmed the excellent cooperation, grounded in shared spiritual heritage, cultural closeness and sincere friendship.

The President thanked the Slovak President for his continued support of country’s EU membership, reiterating that the enlargement process must be based on the Copenhagen criteria without additional bilateral conditions.

In response to global challenges, the presidents underscored the need for greater trust, solidarity, and unity among states and nations within the EU, NATO and the United Nations.

During the meeting with President Pellegrini, Siljanovska-Davkova conveyed her regret over yesterday’s train accident in Slovakia, in which around 100 people were injured, and wished them a speedy recovery..

During President Pellegrini’s visit, Macedonian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski and State Secretary of the Slovak Ministry of Economy Vladimír Šimoňák signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of economy.
