Munich, 7 August 2025 (dpa/MIA) - Former Bayern Munich icon Thomas Müller has confirmed his expected move to Major League Soccer club Vancouver Whitecaps.
"Whitecaps - let's make history," Müller said in a video he published on X on Wednesday.
The video was captioned with the words "It's done" and an emoji of a hand signing a document.
World Cup 2014 winner Müller was not given a contract extension in summer and left Bayern after 25 years in which he won countless titles, including trebles in 2013 and 2020.
Müller, 35, had said in an earlier cowboy-themed video that he was set to move "across the pond."
He now has a contract with the Vancouver Whitecaps that runs through the end of 2026.
"From Munich to Vancouver. A Legend Arrives," the club wrote on its website.
"13 Bundesliga Titles, 2 UEFA Champions League Titles, 1 FIFA World Cup Trophy. Thomas Müller is here and ready to write his next chapter with the 'Caps," it added.
"Thomas is a world-class player," said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC CEO & sporting director.
Schuster said Müller is known "for his elite chance creation, unmatched spatial awareness, and relentless off-the-ball movement."
"He not only brings a winning pedigree and exceptional football intelligence, but also a tireless work ethic that will elevate the entire team."
"Thomas is a natural leader whose passion for the game is infectious. This is a statement signing by our club and our ownership – a transformative moment for our club and our city. We are proud to welcome Thomas to Vancouver," the sporting director added.
