Berlin, 22 October 2025 (dpa/MIA) - Fermin Lopez scored a hat-trick and Marcus Rashford a brace as Barcelona claimed their second Champions League victory of the season, 6-1 over 10-man Olympiacos on Tuesday.
Lopez, a starter in place of Frenkie de Jong, netted in the seventh minute after a first attempt from Lamine Yamal was blocked.
He doubled the lead in the 39th into the left corner after being set up by 17-year-old Dro Fernandez who had his first start in the elite event due to several other forwards being sidelined.
Olympiacos were back in the game in bizarre fashion shortly after the break.
Ayoub El Kaabi's successful header was nullified because Daniel Podence, who set him up, was offside. However, the video referee also determined that Barca's Eric Garcia handled the ball before Podence got it, and Olympiacos were given a penalty which El Kaabi converted in off the right post for their first goal of the campaign.
But it all unravelled for the Greek visitors when Santiago Hezze was sent off after a harsh second booking in the 57th, and Barca struck four times between the 68th and 79th.
Lamine Yamal converted down the middle from the spot after goalkeeper Kostas Tzolakis brought down Rashford, who got the fourth himself into the near corner before Lopez completed his hat-trick with a low drive and Rashford also netted again.
The big win will give Barca confidence ahead of the first Clasico of the season on the weekend against Real Madrid.
Barca, who had lost their last game against PSG, drew level on six points with six other teams who were playing their third match later Tuesday or Wednesday, including title holders Paris Saint-Germain at Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich v Club Brugge and Real v Juventus.
In the other early kick-off, Kairat Almaty drew 0-0 with 10-man Pafos of Cyprus who had Joao Correira sent off in the fourth minute for a kung-fu style kick in the face of Luis Mata.
