Skopje, 26 October 2025 (MIA) - The mayoral runoff in the local elections is set to take place next Sunday - November 2. The runoff will be administered in 32 municipalities and the City of Skopje.

Today, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski will attend local rallies in Brvenica, Centar and Karposh, while SDSM leader Venko Filipche will visit Aerodrom.

Skopje mayor candidates Orce Gjorgjievski (VMRO-DPMNE) and Amar Mecinovikj (Levica) are set to face off in a TV duel this week, with the waste collection problem in the focus.

The registration of sick and infirm voters ended on midnight, whereas the deadline for registration of persons in house arrest is set to expire in two days. These individuals, along with inmates and seniors in retirement homes, will vote on November 1.

The local elections finished in the first round across 44 municipalities, while voting will be repeated in Gostivar, Mavrovo-Rostushe, Vrapchishte and Centar Zhupa due to low turnout.

According to the preliminary official results, VMRO-DPMNE won mayoral seats in 33 municipalities, the Vlen coalition in five, NAI in three, and SDSM in three.
