Ljupcho Jakimoski, former MIA and MRT director, dies at 61

Ohrid, 7 March 2023 (MIA) – Ljupcho Jakimoski, former director of MIA and MRT, has died on Monday after a brief illness at the age of 61.

Ljupcho Jakimoski was born in 1961 in Velestovo village, Ohrid. Graduated from the Faculty of Philology - History of Yugoslav Literature.

He was twice elected as the member of parliament from the ranks of VMRO-DPMNE, in the first parliamentary composition, and then in 1998. In the same year, he was appointed general director of the Macedonian Radio Television (MRT), a position he held until 2002.

In 2006, he was appointed director and editor-in-chief of Media Information Agency (MIA), a position he held for 11 years, until 2017.

He will be buried in Velestovo.

MIA’s Director-General Dragan Antonovski, Deputy Director Halit Ajdini and members of the Administrative Board of MIA sent sincere condolences to Ljupcho Jakimoski’s family on Tuesday.
