Lifeguards on duty at only four beaches in Struga

Lifeguards on duty at only four beaches in Struga
Struga, 19 July 2021 (MIA) — Only four Struga beaches have lifeguards on duty to supervise the safety of swimmers in Lake Ohrid: the Versus and Dada beaches, the Livadishte campground beach, and the Izgrev hotel beach and aquapark, MIA’s Struga correspondent reports. According to the Struga Red Cross branch secretary, Adurime Dauti, only a dozen trained lifeguards have been hired this year, and none of them are at the city beaches. “Swimmers should be careful while enjoying the waters of Lake Ohrid and be aware of the risk,” Dauti warned beachgoers, urging them not to swim in the Black Drim. Swimming is not allowed in the river, she added. In the past, lifeguards from the Red Cross have helped swimmers with sunstrokes and minor injuries, such as cuts. They have prevented drownings, as well. mr/
