Legal amendments simplifying procedures for photovoltaics enter into force

Legal amendments simplifying procedures for photovoltaics enter into force
Skopje, 25 October 2022 (MIA) – Citizens and businesses will be able to quickly, and under favorable conditions, install photovoltaic panels for electricity production. The amendments to the Law on Construction have entered into force as part of a series of support measures amid the largest global energy crisis, said the Government in a press release Tuesday. With the amendments, said the Government, the procedure for installing photovoltaic panels is simplified. Households will be able to install photovoltaic panels with a maximum capacity of six kilowatts, while for businesses the maximum is 40 kilowatts. “It is crucial that the procedure does not include any administrative procedures and it is not necessary for the local administration to issue a permit. Investors are only obliged to notify the municipality and submit the necessary documents. Municipal inspectors will check whether the panels have been installed in line with the project,” said the Government. The amendments also enable a special procedure for the installation of photovoltaic panels, without an installation permit, by consumer-producers who will use the produced electricity for their own needs, while transferring the excess electricity to the electricity distribution network. “The Government is working in the interests of citizens and businesses, in order to soften the blows of the largest global energy crisis. In addition to securing electricity and food, the Government is investing in projects aimed at increasing energy independence, green economy and the living standard,” said the Government in the press release. Since the beginning of the crisis, the Government said, in order to slow down the spillover of inflation, measures amounting to 400 million euro were implemented, which were then supplemented with measures envisaged by the rebalancing of the Budget, as well as a third set of measures worth 360 million euro, in support of citizens and businesses. ad/nn/
