Pristina, 1 August 2022 (MIA) – Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said Monday they will not let the situation in the country destabilize and reaffirmed that the implementation of the Government’s decisions will be delayed once all the barricades in the north of Kosovo are removed. “Once all barricades in the north are removed and complete freedom of movement is restored, the implementation of the two government decisions will be delayed until September 1, 2022. There are nine barricades in the north and we expect all of them to be removed today,” said Kurti at a press conference. Kurti said the decisions the Government of Kosovo makes are never based on national identity. “Violence will not be tolerated, the perpetrators will be punished in accordance with the law,” said Kurti. The Kosovo PM thanked U.S. Ambassador Jeffrey Hovenier and EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell for the open communication and their role in calming the situation. He added that he understands the concerns of the European and American factors about the negative effect of the misinformation campaign regarding the two decisions, therefore the Government expressed its readiness to delay implementation of the decisions until September 1, once all the barricades are removed. “We call on the international factor, EU and NATO, to condemn the violence and aggression of the criminal groups in the north of Kosovo, which are encouraged and financed by Belgrade,” said Kurti. ad/ba/
