Kovachevski with Harvard and MIT students: N. Macedonia a credible NATO, EU partner with great youth potential

Skopje, 22 May 2023 (MIA) – Promotion of democratic values, different cultures and potentials of North Macedonia, exchange of experiences and opportunities for joint projects were the topics of discussion at Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski’s meeting with graduate and post-graduate students from Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Monday, said the Government in a press release.
The students’ visit to North Macedonia is supported by the Open Balkan countries, as part of the so-called “Balkan Trek” study visit to North Macedonia, Serbia and Albania from May 18 to May 26.
At the meeting, PM Kovachevski stressed that North Macedonia and the region have a great potential and employment opportunities, especially for young people, while at the same time offering opportunities for inclusive, transparent development and quality and knowledge-based employment, which also stimulates direct investments.
North Macedonia, said the PM, has proven itself as a credible EU and NATO partner, contributing to the strengthening of regional cooperation and building global peace.
Talking about the country’s Euro-integration process, Kovachevski assessed that initiatives such as Open Balkan have a great potential to improve the economic situation of the Western Balkans, and he said he expects stronger regional cooperation to guarantee peace and stability in the region.
According to the press release, the students were interested in North Macedonia’s economic growth, as well as the fight against disinformation and the Euro-integration process.
As part of “Balkan Trek”, the students coming from 17 countries, will meet with the highest state officials of the Open Balkan countries and with young leaders, while also getting a chance to get acquainted with the tourism, culture and food of the Open Balkan countries.
