Kovachevski welcomes Borrell and Lajcak: Western Balkans' place is in EU

Ohrid, 18 March 2023 (MIA) — Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski, who is hosting in Ohrid a high-level EU-mediated meeting as part of the Belgrade – Prishtina dialogue, welcomed EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell and EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Prishtina Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak.
Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti are taking part in the negotiations on implementing rules for a planned agreement to normalize bilateral relations.
According to a government press release, Kovachevski, Borrell and Lajcak highlighted their mutual commitment to solving all open issues through dialogue, with North Macedonia providing an excellent example.
They also agreed that the place of the Western Balkans was in the European Union, especially in conditions of geopolitical turmoil, global division, and war on the European continent.
They all welcomed the openness of Serbia and Kosovo to solve open issues through dialogue, looking forward to a better future for the entire Western Balkans and leaving conflicts behind, the release adds. mr/
