Kovachevski meets with Sarrazin and Frangeš: Responsibility to prevail over partisan interests for North Macedonia’s European future

Skopje, 23 November 2023 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski held a meeting with Germany's Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin, and the Special Representative of Slovenia for the Western Balkans, Anžej Frangeš, during which they discussed current topics of essential importance for the perspectives of the country, said the Government in a press release Thursday.

According to the Government, the North Macedonia’s role in the stability of the Western Balkans was also noted at the meeting.

‘Expectations were expressed that in the coming period, responsibility towards the state and the citizens will prevail over partisan interests, and that the political representatives chosen by the citizens will fulfill the will of the majority regarding EU membership and the opportunity ahead of the country,” said the Government.

Sarrazin and Frangeš reaffirmed the support of Germany and Slovenia for the country’s Euro-integrations, and urged a swift continuation of negotiations without delay.

The press release added that PM Kovachevski expressed gratitude over the continued support provided by Germany and Slovenia.

“We value your commitment to the European integration of North Macedonia. Germany, as the largest EU member state, and Slovenia, as a part of our region, are leading a dedicated, responsible, and caring role for the future of the Western Balkans, which, of course, is reflected in the perspectives,” said Prime Minister Kovachevski at the meeting, according to the press release.
