Kovachevski: Meeting with Mickoski to focus on aspects related to elections, not caretaker gov't nominees
- Prime Minister and SDSM leader Dimitar Kovachevski said Friday the meeting with VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski would not focus on the nominees for the caretaker government.
Skopje, 12 January 2024 (MIA) - Prime Minister and SDSM leader Dimitar Kovachevski said Friday the meeting with VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski would not focus on the nominees for the caretaker government.
"Every political party nominates its representatives in the caretaker or any other coalition government. This one includes the opposition and has strictly defined posts according to the Law on Elections and the Law on Government," PM Kovachevski told reporters.
According to him, VMRO-DPMNE should first nominate its representatives in the caretaker government and submit them to the Government and Parliament.
"Our meeting will focus on other elements related to the elections," said Kovachevski without specifying the date of the meeting with Mickoski.
At late Thursday’s meeting of the Executive Committee, VMRO-DPMNE decided to participate in the caretaker government but abstain from voting for it, said committee member Timcho Mucunski, noting it is expected for the party's Central Committee to authorize leader Mickoski to choose the individuals to be part of the caretaker government, with their names set to be announced after religious holiday Epiphany (Jan. 19).
